Our story starts some time in the year 1982
It had been a long day for Kay Finkle and she just couldn’t stop itching the rash on her arm. When her husband, David arrived home he noticed it bothering her immediately and said “Honey, is the water giving you a rash AGAIN?”
You see Kay worked at the Y.M.C.A teaching swim classes to young children and she loved it! However, she couldn’t quite get around the fact that the harsh chemicals in the water were constantly giving her a painful, itchy rash that would last for days after she got out of the pool. “Yes, its back again” Kay said quietly.
“Honey why don’t you quite working there? You know you don’t need the money.” David replied. “Well i just LOVE working with the kids, I can’t see myself doing anything else! They make me smile and laugh and they get me out of the house. Working with them brings me a sense of purpose, David. I don’t quite know what to do?” Kay became anxious at the thought of leaving her job working with the kids. David just nodded and hugged her, quietly digesting what she had said. They moved on from the conversation and enjoyed a nice evening with their two daughters.
Now we move forward in time to just after David & Kay Finkle had moved to Post Falls, Idaho and purchased their 5 acre plot of land to build their dream home.
One evening David approached Kay and asked “how would you like me to build you your own place to teach? And you can use alternative methods in the water so you won’t have to suffer that darn rash anymore?” Kay’s eyes lit up and she said “Well that would be a dream come true, David. I would LOVE that!”
It was in that moment our story truly started. Out of a deep love and devotion to his wife, David Finkle built our beautiful, one of a kind facility for her to teach her lessons out of. By this point Kay had worked for the YMCA long enough to retire, and had been in their program long enough to be considered an elite teacher.
After building was complete she began taking students and developing her own style of teaching. It did not take long for her reputation to proceed her. She then turned to her eldest daughter, Kim, to help her with this rapidly growing client base. Kay and Kim worked together for years, expanding the program and creating a bond of trust with their students.
Not long after that, one of Kim’s daughters joined the crew, Miss Emory. At this point it was a fully fledged family affair! Since that day we as a family have been refining the program that Mrs. Kay laid down in the early years of teaching.
Kay’s Dancing Waters Swim School was born out of a desire to teach children to swim in a safe environment that was free of harsh chemicals. We have been able to create a truly unique program and a truly unique experience for our customers. Through the love and devotion of the Finkle and Endres family, we have built a business that is driven by love, family values, and a desire to spread this incredible skill to the world. We endeavor as a family to keep this incredible business going for many many years to come, and we will forever carry on the Legacy that Mrs. Kay left in her wake: to be incredible in all that you do, to care for others as you would yourself, and to never take all that you have for granted, but rather share it with the world.
We so look forward to adding you to our little family of swimmers! If you are interested in our program please go ahead and sign-up, make your student profile and search through our available classes to see what fits with your schedule.

Jess Hahaj2024-05-31What a wonderful swim school! My daughter has swam at many different spots, all fine but her instructor, Emory, is so fantastic! She requires good listening and lots of try while encouraging a FUN program with safety in mind. The program turns out kids with plenty of stamina and all the skills needed despite a “small” but warm pool. I can’t recommend Emory enough as she has such a good attitude and provides such good encouragement. Can’t wait for them to set up a team!athena vlachos2024-04-15We just Love Kay's Dancing Waters Swim School. It's a beautiful location. Our teacher Emory was Amazing.
